1. Who we are

This website (railingsandglass.ca) is operated by Aluma Contracting Ltd, an Ontario corporation with offices at 6790 Davand Dr Unit 17, Mississauga ON L5T 2G5. For privacy questions, contact info@railingsandglass.ca.

2. What we collect

Through this site we may collect:

• Quote calculator submissions — name, email address, phone number, postal code, project description and footage, and any photos you choose to upload
• Email and phone inquiries — content of messages you send us through email, WhatsApp, or our phone lines
• Server logs — IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps (standard web server records, retained for 30 days for security and abuse prevention)
• No tracking cookies at launch. If we add analytics or marketing pixels in the future, we'll update this policy and add a cookie banner before activating them.

3. Why we collect it

We collect personal information for one reason: to give you a quote and (if you proceed) install your project. Specifically:

• Your name and contact information — so we can reach you about your quote, schedule a site visit, and stay in touch through the install
• Your postal code — to determine your municipality's pool fence and guard codes (which vary across Ontario), to estimate drive time, and to apply the right local pricing
• Your project photos and footage — to spec materials and refine the calculator's price band based on actual site conditions
• Server logs — to detect spam, abuse, and bot traffic; to keep the site secure and the calculator functional

We don't sell your information, ever. We don't share it with marketing partners. We don't use it to retarget you with ads.

4. Who has access

Your information is accessed by:

• Our team — owner, estimators, and project leads who need it to quote and run your job
• Our installers — for the address, scope, and any photos relevant to the install (no contact info beyond what they need to complete the work)
• Email and SMS service providers — your messages are transmitted through their infrastructure (e.g., our mail server). They don't have a separate use of your data.

We do not transfer your information outside Canada except as part of standard internet email routing (which may temporarily route through US servers — outside our control).

5. How long we keep it

Quote and customer records are retained for the duration of the warranty period (5–20 years depending on service) plus 2 years, in case warranty claims arise. After that, records are deleted unless you ask us to keep them longer (some customers ask us to keep records on file for future projects).

Calculator submissions that don't proceed to a job are kept for 12 months, then deleted. Server logs are kept for 30 days.

6. How to ask us to delete your information

You have the right under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you
• Ask us to correct anything inaccurate
• Ask us to delete your information (with limited exceptions for active warranty cases)
• Withdraw your consent at any time (though this may mean we can't continue providing services)

To make any of these requests, email info@railingsandglass.ca with the subject line "Privacy request." We respond within 30 days.

7. Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect your information:

• The site is served over HTTPS (encrypted in transit)
• Calculator submissions are validated server-side and escalation files are stored in a non-public directory
• Office records are kept on access-controlled systems

No system is 100% secure. If a breach affecting your information occurs, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by law.

8. Children

This website and our services are not directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have, contact us and we'll delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and (for material changes) we'll post a notice on the homepage for 30 days. The current version always lives at railingsandglass.ca/privacy.html.
